Two animated 3D loot box designs for the game Couch Heroes, in common and rare versions
❍ Concepting
The team provided a product brief, detailing the lore & initial design ideas. After some calls & dms, this progressed into a Miro board where we could iterate on ideas for the box
❍ Model & animation
The asset was created in Blender. Addons such as BoxCutter & MACHIN3tools made modeling a smooth process. The animation is a procedural setup made in geometry nodes, the model could be reworked at any time while the animation still worked as intended
❍ Texturing
After UV unwrapping in Blender, I created a geometry nodes setup to generate the high poly model. Once exported to Substance Painter, we went over some style variations for the materials
❍ Unreal Engine
I brought the box anim into UE5 as an alembic. Lookdev was done in realtime, along with the creation of the Niagara system for the particles
